We all need a break and it’s important to recharge your batteries, but in the fast-paced world of social media it’s easy to slip behind and miss out if you stop. So, how do you relax and stay on top of things?
Really, there are two options. Firstly, you could employ someone to tweet for you whilst you have a break. There are lots of advantages to having a social media manager, not least the fact that you get to take a step back! This person can make sure content still goes out on your account and you don’t miss out on any important connections.
But, this might not always be a realistic option, so there’s option two, scheduling! There are plenty of free services online like Buffer that you can use to schedule tweets whilst you have a break.
If you want something a bit more involved then consider using a social media management tool like Hootsuite that will provide you with some great tools for scheduling content and provide you with analytical data as well.
Work out what it is that you want to say on your account, and it’s a good idea to let people know that there may be a delayed response because of the holidays, that way you set customer expectation and don’t set yourself up for a fall.
Put a plan in place detailing what tweets are going out when so you know at a quick glance what should be happening on your account. That way when you return to work you’ll know what has been sent out and what responses you may have had.
Make sure when you get back that you reply to everybody and don’t miss out on any opportunities. Let people know you are back in the office and that normal service has resumed as well, to avoid confusion.
Finally, enjoy your time off and don’t worry about missing out on social media.
