While social media is a great way to promote your products or services and engage with your clients/potential clients, it is not the only aspect of your marketing. Hopefully you have other marketing channels in place for your business so you can then start thinking of ways that you can integrate these with your social media.

To give you some ideas we’re going to think about how you can integrate your social media with your email marketing.

If you send out weekly or monthly e-newsletters to your email database, there are a number of things that you can do to include your social media.

The most basic thing you can do is to include social buttons somewhere in your newsletter. These can either be ‘share’ buttons or ‘follow’ buttons.

Follow buttons

Follow buttons are simply links through to your social media profiles, allowing people to click through to your Twitter page, for example, and follow you there, or to ‘Like’ you on Facebook or connect on LinkedIn. This will help you to increase followers and therefore increase the amount of people who will see the content you post.

Share buttons

The share button allows people to share the content in your newsletter with their own contacts, perhaps people who you do not have on your own database. For example, if you send out a newsletter containing your blog, one of your contacts may find it interesting and want to pass it on to someone they know. With share buttons they can send your content through email, or share it on their own social profiles with a click of a button.

There are a number of email platforms you can use all allow you to easily add these buttons to your email campaigns and both are great ways of introducing new people to your social media profiles and the content you post on them. However, you have to assume that not everyone who reads your email is going to click on these links. Despite this you can still use your e-newsletters to share the same content that you share on your social media, links to blogs, for example, interesting articles, or any offers that you are running on your products or services. This way the content you put out online receives more exposure as it is getting sent out to more people and is more likely to be seen.

Vice versa, you can use your social media profiles to gain more exposure for your email newsletters by posting links for people to subscribe to your mailing list on your profiles. This is particularly handy if you are particularly active on social media and have a sizeable following but are just beginning to use emails for your marketing and need to build up your database. Plus, if someone is already following you on social media then it is probably for a reason; perhaps they enjoy the content that you share. If this is the case then it is highly probable that they will be willing to join your mailing list as they will want to receive more news and information from you.

These are just a few ideas of how you can make the most out of your social media by integrating it with other facets of your marketing. If you would like any more help in this area then please get in touch.
