Halloween is a fun time on social media and smart businesses are getting in on the act and using social media as a great way to create interest, boost brand recognition, engage customers and increase sales. Here are some easy ideas on how you could get your business noticed this Halloween.
Update your Social Media Banners
Get your profile noticed by putting up a banner especially for Halloween. If you have special Halloween offers to share, this is a great way to help get them noticed too. Refreshing the home page banner on your Facebook page generates a story in your followers feeds, thus raising awareness and showing you’re active on your page.
Create Halloween Offers
Create a special Halloween offer to get noticed, increase footfall or shift stock. You could discount products you’re trying to move or throw in Halloween-themed freebies with purchases. You could even create a fun Halloween competition to generate interest (e.g. a ghoul caption competition, a guess the chocolate eyeballs in the jar, a comment below with your favourite Halloween costume post).
Share a Halloween Meme
Simple but often ridiculously effective. Sharing a meme can show your sense of fun and, although a bit overdone, people love memes and they can sometimes result in a lot of shares and likes – all great for boosting your brand recognition.
Dress up
Nothing beats getting your team together for a Halloween picture which is shared on social media. This is great for small businesses, particularly bricks and mortar based where your followers know you in person. The sillier the better when it comes to social media, obviously being careful that your costume couldn’t offend anyone!
Change your Avatar
If dressing up isn’t for you, it’s easy to dress up your profile image with some Halloween additions, or to replace it altogether with a Halloween avatar. Here’s some fun we had with the Shake logo!
More time to spend? Well this one ain’t easy, but it’s a very creative use of the Halloween genre to get the message across. This video is, perhaps surprisingly, by the Canadian Heart and Stroke Association and has racked up over 1.5 million views, getting the message across about what to do if someone has a heart attack in an effective but unusual way:
