You’ve all had the email this morning I’m sure – Twitter congratulating itself on ten years online. The question we’re asking is less to do with the last ten years and more to do with the next: what’s in store for our favourite networks? And how will Twitter – or any of the social networks – look in another ten years time?
I’ll be appearing on BBC Radio Kent later today to discuss this and other topics around Twitter’s 10th birthday. My predictions include:
- More of an emphasis on being ‘live’ – from video to updates, all the networks are pushing for you to be online, logged in and sharing your lives as they happen
- Better integration of wearable tech – more data, more convenience, more personalised technology
- A bigger merger of personal and professional lives – your personal brand covers all aspects
- Pay to play – we’ll need to pay to access the relevant data and advertise accordingly, social networks will cease to be completely free for brands
What would you add?
– Kate
