In just two weeks, on December 5th, it is the third annual Small Business Saturday – the busiest shopping day of the year in the run up to Christmas and an incredible opportunity to show support for the small businesses that are the backbone of our economy. Facebook have compiled these five tips to help local businesses optimise traffic to their store:

1. Use the right call-to-action button on your Page (e.g. Call Now, Send Message, Contact Us, etc.)

2. Monitor local insights – this is a new section in your Insights. Facebook recommend checking the time of day that most people are in your neighbourhood, so you can open and staff your store accordingly.

3. Try out local awareness ads – Facebook offers a variety of ads here and suggests trying out the “Get Directions” ad among others.

4. Turn on Page messaging – this goes for pages of all sizes. Be sure to have team members on standby in order to answer questions and don’t forget to say thank you to your customers, too!

5. Set up a saved reply – prep ahead of time by creating and saving a series of standard replies to questions you typically receive.

Don’t forget the full official Social Media Guide is available to download for free from the Small Business Saturday website, and please share this post with people you know who will be taking advantage of Small Business Saturday!
