The holidays are coming, in fact they are pretty much here and the Christmas campaigns have already started.
In the build up to the festive period the majority of brands undertake some sort of Christmas themed campaign and there is a lot of content being pushed out on social media. So, how can you make your Christmas content meaningful?
The content:
There is a golden rule to bear in mind when it comes to content: Content should always be what your customers want to consume NOT what you want to tell them.
This means no pushy promotions, no boring content and don’t just post for the sake of it!
Don’t just guess at what you think your audience want to see on your social media accounts. Do some research and find out what they like, what they respond to and then spend some time thinking about how to create interesting content within this scope.
Connecting:
Christmas is a great time to link up to all the festive happenings and to thank your customers and audience for their support over the last year. Making your social media content personable is really important for people to trust your brand and for building relationships and loyalty.
Integration:
There are a number of big brands who do Christmas well. John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and Coca Cola are all renowned for their Christmas adverts, and emotionally charged marketing in the run up to Christmas. It’s not just their adverts that make their campaigns meaningful, but the fact that these campaigns are integrated.
By making sure your content is integrated across platforms with the same brand message you will ensure a more effective and meaningful campaign, as your audience will be clear about what you are saying.
Have fun:
Most importantly, have fun with it! If you’re enjoying creating and posting the content it will be a hundred times more sincere and meaningful than if you’re just trying to get something together for Christmas. The holiday season allows for extra creativity and a really positive atmosphere to connect and re-connect with audiences so make the most of it!
